I think your best bet would be to make casts of the bulbs. A good caster can 
match the color perfectly or close to it (See the work of Pete Bostrom at 
www.lithiccastinglab.com to see what is possible). If it were me, I'd be 
concerned that by using a chemically-treated root that the appearance of it 
would be drastically changed (ie. darkened). I'd also be concerned about the 
durability of the finished "product" and whether it was still attractive to pests.
