The Airmen Memorial Museum near Andrews Air Force Base in Suitland, MD has a small but focused collection dealing with the enlisted members of the U.S. Air Force and its predecessor organizations. I was employed there for two years as a curator and director of operations. There are several
examples of WWII navigation octants in the collection along with a host of other artifacts you may be interested in. The museum's parent organization is the Air Force Sergeants Association and although they can be somewhat difficult to deal with, the collection is unparalleled. The curator on
staff is Sean Miskimins. He can be reached at 1-800-638-0594. Good Luck.
