In order to get a full time Curatorial job with the National Park
Service, I first took a part time clerk-typist job (talk about low pay!).
When the Museum Aid left I filled in on some of those duties while the
hiring process commenced, and I was finally hired for the position.
Eventually I was promoted to Museum Technician. In all cases, the pay
wasn't great, but I received some fantastic training that still serves me
to this day.
