I am posting this for a colleague who has not subscribed to Museum-L.
The following is Her text:

The National Museum of American History is in the planning stages of a
Museum Reference Center. This would be a multi-use facility utilizing
computers, cd-rom equipment, study galleries, and meeting areas,
etc. The group focusing on Background Research would like to hear from other
museums about their experience s in planning, establishing, running, or
visiting similar facilities. Please respond directly to me at the following
address.
