The Park City Museum in Park City, Utah has immediate openings for graduate students as History and Cultural Heritage interns. The successful candidates will assist with all aspects of the museum’s operations. Depending on background and skills, interns may work in one or more area of the museum with administration, education, curatorial, public relations, development, and/or collections.

The Park City Museum recently reopened after an $8.9 million renovation and expansion. A community museum, the collection is remarkably diverse in type and size, with objects as large as a stagecoach and as fragile as the “Silver Queen’s” lace dresses and totals more than 27,000 items.

This internship will give students an opportunity to acquire practical experience in the museum field. Interns assist staff with educational programming, care of artifacts and archival materials, and museum administration including museum store and fundraising. Previous internship project examples have included designing a Main Street walking tour, researching historic homes for our annual home tour, cataloguing historic photograph collections, and coordinating special events.

Qualifications
Strong organizational skills, writing skills, and standard office computer skills are required. A basic knowledge and experience with artifact handling techniques, PastPerfect software, and some understanding of museum management procedures is preferred. The successful candidate will have a background in history, education, museum studies, communications and public relations or non-profit administration. He or she must be able to climb ladders and lift up to 40 lbs.

Internships last from 8 to 12 weeks. The stipend for this internship is $2,400 for 8 weeks (35 hrs/week).

Please send a letter of interest and resume by Thursday, April 1st to:
