TRAILS AND TREATIES IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST: A TIME FOR RECONSIDERATION
DATE: March 2005
SPONSOR: PACIFIC NORTHWEST HISTORIANS GUILD, Seattle, WA
PROGRAM CHAIR: Maria Pascualy, Pacific Northwest Historians Guild

For more information contact Maria Pascualy ([log in to unmask])

The Pacific Northwest Historians Guild has begun planning for our 2005
conference Trails and Treaties in the Pacific Northwest: A Time for
Reconsideration. Our goal is to encourage a fresh look at the complicated
and often times little understood early Pacific Northwest history leading
up to the treaties and the expected and unexpected consequences of treaty
making on the region today. Presentation topics can include environmental
and economic territorial histories, in depth looks at lesser known figures
in out trail and treaty history, reconsiderations of pivotal events and
people, as well as critical assessments of present day treaty and trail
commemorations and their meaning. We encourage representation from the
tribes and can help make contacts for your panels and presentations. The
Guild is getting the word out early so new research can be presented at the
conference. Presentations in film, poetry or other media will also be
considered
