The common element of responses to my question last week about benefits of
websites was that they make the museum 'visible'. They create new online
audiences, of course, by people searching. If you also have a website
address on all of your marketing material, and link it into the websites of
local authorities, service groups and education institutions, it 'pops up'.

Then you need to start building content on the web, or pointing on the web
to content on site.

If you have a friendly ISP and some good tracking software, or you do on
site evaluations, you can find out the interests of your main 'visitors' and
cater for them more systematically.

It's one clever way of developing audiences.

Patricia.
