There are several ways to go about posting your collection images online.

One of the best ways is to build a database that has a good web interface.
It can then be integrated directly with your collection management tasks.
Inmagic is a good one - you can see a good example at
http://www.akcity.govt.nz/dbtw-wpd/heritageimages/apphoto.htm. Another good
example is the NPS site: http://165.83.219.72/hafe/hfc/npsphoto.cfm; I don't
know what database they use, but it's a good interface.

A lot of people love ContentDM for digital exhibits. University of Utah uses
it in several ways. See http://www.lib.utah.edu/digital/cellarius.html and
other projects at http://www.lib.utah.edu/digital/digcol.html
