I am looking for information about how an institutions collection committee
is formed and organized. Specifically, I am looking for the following
information:

    1. How many members are on the committee
    2. Are they chosen or appointed from among the board
    3. Does any institution have a written "job description" that they could
share with
        me on this subject
    4. In what areas exactly does the collection committee advise
        I.e.: deaccessions, loans, etc.

I would appreciate any information that you can provide me. We are trying to
reinstate a collections committee at our museum and are looking for a little
guidance. You can reply to me on or off list.

Thank you,

Mary Oliver
Curator of Collections and History
Montgomery County Historical Society
