Conference scholarships are abundant but are, perhaps, tricky to find. Indeed, I
am always amazed that so few people apply for the ones with which I am familiar!

These are:

Midwest Registrars Committee Travel Scholarship to attend the Midwest Museums
Conference. Three (yes, three) US$500 stipends are awarded each year.
Competitive, open to members only. Membership is, however, only five dollars and
open to all collections managers, registrars, curators, etc. in the states of
the Midwest Museums Conference. Contact: Melinda Knapp, 614.297.2612

Crozier Travel Stipend to attend the American Association of Museums: Six (yes,
six) stipends of US$500 to 700 are generously funded by Crozier Fine Arts. One
to a Registrars Committee member from each of the six AAM regions. Competitive.

International Travel Stipend to attend the American Association of Museums. I
can't remember how much but it's alot. One to a Registrar from a country other
than the United States. Sponsored by the Registrars Committee of the AAM.

Travel Stipend sponsored by the Curators Committee of the AAM to attend the AAM.
One given to a curator just begining a career who has not attended AAM in the

AAM annual scholarship offered by the Small Museum Administrators Committee. One
to a staff member from a small museum. Contact: Lisa Tremper Barnes, Berman

So, nu? Quit complaining and start applying! I am certain there are other
scholarships available, a few phone calls to one's regional museum association
office is, perhaps, in order.
