Chris,

A diluted Murphys solution might help? T murphys to a gallon of water... Dry
thoroughly with a clean cotton rag.

It should not harm the tin, but if you have loose polychromy I would think
hard before touching it at all.

A colleague of mine has asked how to best clean an unfinished, wooden frame
