The Rogers Historical Museum is pleased to announce the availability of
the traveling exhibit, "Let's Play: Pastimes From the Past." This
exhibition, supported in part by a grant from the Arkansas Humanities
council and the National Endowment for the Humanities, will begin a
two-year tour in March 1997.

"Let's Play" looks back at the ways Americans enjoyed their leisure time
at the turn of the century. The 12-panel exhibition provides an overview
of pastimes from our past; topics include playthings, the importance of
imaginative play, parlor games, the return to nature, the fitness craze,
the role of organized sports, the rise of the sportswoman, America on
wheels, costumes for play, and the "disease of spectatoritis."

The exhibit includes photographs, documents, and artifacts from the 19th
and 20th Centuries, as well as a matching memory game and a slide show
with audio tape. It is accompanied by an activity packet with ideas for
educational programs, a sample press release, publicity photographs, and
exhibition posters and brochures.

"Let's Play" covers 60 running feet of space, requires moderate security,
and is available for six-week booking periods. The participation fee for
each booking period is $400 within Arkansas, $500 outside of Arkansas.

For further information, or to arrange a booking, contact me at the
address or phone number below.
