A new feature at this year's Upstate History Alliance/Museum Association of
New York Annual Conference (April 15-17 in Syracuse) are both PRE and POST
Conference Workshops, giving you two opportunities to take advantage of
these extra training opportunities at the conference.

Basics of Archives

Do you need to take care of historical records - but you're not a trained
archivist? The Basics of Archives is for people who work or volunteer in
organizations that deal with the past - whether it's a museum, historical
society, historic house, city clerk's office, the library's local history
room, a historic site, or a college archives. You'll get practical advice,
sample forms and policies, and learn basic practices you need to follow so
that you can collect, protect, and help people use the historical treasures
in your care.

Creek, West Lake Conservators is an internationally known, mixed specialty
practice, providing comprehensive preservation services for the preservation
of paintings, murals, painted objects, frames, paper art and artifacts,
photographs and textiles. Tour West Lake's Paintings, Paper and Frames &
Textiles divisions for an overview of preservation goals, displays and
demonstrations using special tools and equipment, discussions about a
variety of treatments in progress, information about some completed
conservation projects in the past, and consult with staff.

So You Wanna Be A Podcasting Star

podcasting explosion will be invaluable for all levels of museum
professionals and volunteers, from lower-level staff to curators and museum

podcast. The workshop will address not only the whys of podcasting, but also
the hows.
