I just wanted to give a resounding DITTO to Robin's suggestion about the
Tourmobile. I also would suggest that you park at one of the subway
stations in the suburbs and take the subway into downtown. Parking at the
stations is free and parking downtown can be costly, if you can find it.
When we do drive into the city we find the Union Station parking lot is the
best. You can buy Tourmobile tickets in Union Station and board the subway.

The National Postal Museum next to Union Station is wonderful!

Lines were long everywhere due to bags having to be searched before going
into any of the museums.

The FDR memorial is phenomenal!!

We were just in Washington, DC last week and I paid $18 for an all day pass
on the "Tourmobile". It is a tour bus that stops at 25 different sites and
you can get on and off whenever you want. While you are on the tram, the
tour guides tell you lots of interesting facts. It was well worth the $18!

Have fun, I can't wait to go back!
