The Museum of Northern Arizona is seeking an outgoing museum education professional to manage its Heritage Program, now in its 81st year. The primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate four festivals of arts and culture each year to celebrate and promote the Zuni, Hopi Navajo, and Hispanic cultures in Northern Arizona.

Title:  Heritage Program Manager
Department:  Education 
Status:  Exempt, Regular, Full-time, benefit-eligible
Supervisor:  President and CEO

Heritage Program Responsibilities:
•	Seek out and book cultural presenters and artisans representing the diverse cultures living on the Colorado Plateau.
•	 Maintain positive and open communications with tribes, trading posts, artists, and constituents.
•	Coordinate and create festival communications including, “call to artist” packages, participant correspondence and material for MNA Marketing Department
•	Manage collection trips to Zuni, Hopi and Navajo nations.
•	Seek out and book food vendors for each festival event.
•	Work with the Development Department on Heritage Program fundraising activities, including grant writing.
• 	Manage program budgets.
•	Work with Business Office to ensure timely processing of check requests, collection of booth fees, and city tax license fees. 
•	Coordinate and communicate festival activities with other MNA departments to ensure smooth operations.
•	Work with community organizations such as Nuestra Raices and Flagstaff Cultural Partners to provide unique cultural programs.
•	Work with MNA’s Membership Department to create exciting and entertaining festival member previews.
•	Manage festival photography needs.
•	Maintain the Heritage Program pages on the MNA website.
•	Hire and supervise interns and volunteers to assist with Heritage Program administrative duties and activities.

Education and Experience Requirements:
•	B.A. or B.S. in arts administration, management, business, or related field.
•	Experience with museum studies or museum education preferred.
•	Minimum of three years experience working with Native American cultures and artists.  
•	Three years experience in organizing and managing special events and public programs. 
•	Three years experience supervising and motivating staff and volunteers.

Abilities, Skills, and Knowledge:
•	Demonstrated ability to communicate, orally and in writing, with culturally diverse communities.
•	Organizational skills, an ability to multitask, and an ability to maintain confidentiality in all professional matters.
•	Ability to utilize computerized system, including Microsoft Office Suite, email and internet.
•	Trustworthiness and ability to maintain confidentiality in all professional matters.
•	Ability to maintain professional demeanor with artists, visitors and staff.
•	Comfort in dealing with the public.

Working Conditions:  Generally work indoors, 7 hours per day, usually between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.  Some weekend and evening work required.  Must be available to work long days and weekends during Heritage Program festivals including Memorial Day weekend and Independence Day weekend.

Other Requirements
•	Ability to travel throughout the Colorado Plateau region from time to time.
•	Valid Arizona Driver’s License and ability to drive to remote areas unaccompanied.
•	Visual acuity for inspecting arts and crafts, fro creating charts and reports.
•	Ability to stand or sit for long periods, to stoop and bend, to lift at least 30 pounds, and to pack or unpack fragile items.
