I have been to EPCOT and other Florida Disney attractions, and I
have nothing but praise for their intellectual content and
impressive presentation. I'm speaking here of those modules
which are intended to have substantive content -- not about
haunted houses or singing forests.

The first time I 'did' EPCOT, I
remember thinking that ASTC should have a working meeting there,
to figure out why people are willing to pay large $$ for such an
educational experience. In some areas, of course, the curse of the
interactive science center was in full force: about half the modules
weren't working :)

I've seen less rigorous exhibitry in many of America's 'premier'
science centers and museums. And much that is equally commercial
in sponsorship and orientation.

Disney may or may not have the right idea wrt the Civil War, but
their performance in the theme parks should not be snooted.
