There are at least two acceptable methods of noting lenders for an art
exhibit (or any exhibit for that matter). You can either list them all
on a lender "panel" at the end of the exhibition or you can put at the
bottom of each individual artwork label something like "on loan from the
collection of..." If by stickers, you mean actual adhesive stickers,
the answer is you should never use them because the adhesive may damage
the original artwork, including the frame.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Labeling borrowed works for an exhibition

Hi all.

I tried to search the archives but didn't find anything that "matched".

When borrowing works of art for an exhibition, do you put i.d. "labels"
(ie stickers) on the borrowed work, or do you use another method like
tie-tags for identification? Or neither?

Thank you!

Holly
