Heartfelt thanks to all who responded on this topic; each one of you had at
least one excellent point and all had useful information. Communication,
respect, and give the intern solid, relevant hands on experience were points
made over and over.

Our session to develop the guidelines and objectives for the internship went
very well. Your response about the use of a journal gave me the confidence
to approach this idea with her. Not only was she enthusiastic, but when I
apologized if I was coming off as bullying or belittling her by correcting
English use errors in private, she said, "An enemy would NOT tell me my
mistakes." She also felt that her written skills were much better than her
oral skills, so she will be giving an oral report to the Board periodically
as well as weekly reports to me. With that hurdle passed, we quickly
outlined tasks and learning objectives and are now drafting the agreement.
Three happy campers here!
