Helen Glazer is Exhibitions Director and Collections Coordinator
at Goucher College, Baltimore, MD. The goal of "In Quest of
Myth" is to create and test a prototype self-guided walking tour
of works in the Smithsonian museums' permanent collections which
relate to mythological themes. Objects, artifacts, and specimens
will be selected that represent different cultures and eras in
the history of art along with related objects in the historical
and scientific collections. The objectives of the project are to
offer a new activity to attract repeat visitors, to give visitors
a structured format which helps them utilize permanent
collections, to encourage cross-museum visitation, and to provide
visitors with fresh perspectives on art and mythology.

The Fellowships in Museum Practice program is supported by the
Women's Committee of the Smithsonian Institution.
