Gaston County is currently recruiting for the position listed below.  All
candidates must be able to perform the essential job duties as identified
and meet minimum qualification requirements for the position as advertised.
 Proof of education such as a GED, high school diploma, or college degree
must be submitted at the time of application.

TITLE:   Exhibits Designer (Position # AH0005)
LOCATION:   Gaston County Museum of Art & History,
Dallas, NC
PAY SCALE:  $25,092 - $38,902  (Exempt)
APPOINTMENT:  Full time

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Note: the duties listed below are not inclusive of all
the duties that may be assigned to the position, but are considered
essential to the nature of the job.)

À  À Design, construct, and install temporary and traveling exhibits
À  À Design and/or coordinate design and installation of permanent
exhibits
À  À Research how artifact significance and conservation needs are best
served in exhibit environment
À  À Maintain and repair exhibits according to accepted conservation
practices
À  À Create exhibit-related graphics for museum publications
À  À Participate in long-range planning for exhibit development and
scheduling

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
B.A. in Art or Design; museum internship or one year related experience;
project management a plus.  Must be have knowledge of carpentry and computer
graphics; knowledge of exhibit lighting and sound a plus.  The candidate
selected must undergo and successfully pass a drug screening test prior to
employment.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL OR ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift and/or move heavy objects and climb ladders.  Must be
able to work evening hours and/or weekends during exhibit installation.
