Good Afternoon,

Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina is in the process of
building a new Visual Arts Center.  Currently, the University's visual arts
programs are coordinated and housed at the Catherine J. Smith Gallery.
This gallery space is shared with a 1773 seat performing arts
auditorium....hence, the new space dedicated only to visual arts program.

The current plan includes 40,000 SF with three great gallery spaces
dedicated to changing exhibits.  Other areas of the facility have been
designed to exhibit parts of the permanent collection.  The facility will
feature an outside sculpture terrace, a gift shop, a 150 seat lecture hall
and of course the necessary storage, conservation and prep areas.

The purpose of this e-mail is to see how similar facilities meet their
