As a part of a larger project, I'm looking for documentation on the increase in numbers of local historical societies and museums from the 1960s to the present. I'm particularly interested in the Pacific Northwest and have evidence of such growth in Alaska and Oregon, but am also interested in whether this phenomenon occurred throughout the United States and Canada.

Any insights much appreciated.
