Greetings,

I've been lurking a bit on this newsgroup, but as the
new year is finally here and job-searching has been
somewhat frustration, I thought I might post an
"advice needed" message.

To begin, I have a degree in anthropology from UC
Riverside with field and museum experience in
archeology. However, as things go here in San Diego,
the economy, a layoff and three hungry mouths,
required to do what I could.

Thus, 6 years later, I find myself as a Document
Control Supervisor of a large format blueprint
company, my second position in the field. So where I
stand now, is a skill set consisting of cataloging,
field excavation and documentation, database
development, digital imaging whose hobbies included
historical architecture, tall-ships, and preservation
(yes, my interest melds into the realm of hobby).

So now, I want to get back into the field of
museums/preservation/archeology somehow. But most of
my current status has been the product of reacting to
external forces (i.e. economics, employment
environments). Thus, I don't feel like an expert at
anything, the "jack-of-all-trades, Master of none."

Historic Preservation seems to be the most rational
route. But, still having a family and job to tend to,
seems to rule out advanced schooling to any large
degree. Thus, my basic question would be, does anyone
have any recommendations in regards to steering my
career back into the historical sciences?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Brad
