I am at the Sand Springs Cultural and Historical Museum in Sand Springs,
Oklahoma (7 miles west of Tulsa- the state's only planned industrial
city) we are opening on February 22, 2005 an exhibit titled "Take Me
Back to Oklahoma and the The Heart and Soul of Western Swing" This
exhibit is a salute to Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys and other early
western swing artist. Bob's 100th Birthday is March 6 and this is how
we are honoring this pioneer of music. Must note- why Tulsa- because
long before Bob was king in Texas, he was King in Oklahoma. The exhibit
features photographs, personal items, and instruments related to Bob and
Johnnie Lee Wills and prominent Texas Playboys. The exhibit closes
April 30, 2005. The museum is free and open Tues-Wed. 10-5, Thurs. 10-7
Friday and sat. 10-5 pm. For more info. Call 9180246-2509.

Sorry WE are really excited about this exhibit and want to share with
anyone we can!

Subject: Help needed for a possible new public radio feature about
museums

Hello list

A somewhat new public radio program that airs nationally is considering
including a regular, very short, weekly round-up of museum offerings
around
the country. I'm trying to work up a geographically-inclusive sample
list
of some earcatching just-and-about-to-open exhibitions and could use
your
help.

What's coming up at your museum that a national audience might be
interested
in???

THANKS

P.S. I'm also the person working on the Hidden Treasurse Radio series
and am
always still looking for great leads on things you WISH would be on
exhibit
- but for some very intriguing reason aren't....
