Hi,

Our city school district eliminated bus money for field trips two years
ago. We have a private foundation that gives us money for bussing - we
apply each year, and base our request on number of programs we'll offer,
full attendance from the targeted classes, and quotes from the school
bus dept. - price per trip per bus. The up side is we're the only venue
classes can visit - no money to go elsewhere. But we face the usual
challenges: getting teachers interested, getting them to sign up in a
timely fashion, getting them to requisition the bus (they request, we
pay the bill), and billing difficulties with the bus dept. The school
district did have a special curriculum person who was our contact - we
pitched programs to her, she pitched them to the teachers and set up
schedules and sheep-dogged the whole process. But that position was cut
last year. Our educator also does outreach programs in the schools.

Good thread - I'm passing this along to our educator.
