Yes. I've seen long bands with slits for fastening, I believe, that are
belly bands. I think they were two layers, they might have had straps. They
were not built like infant stays though. There would be some difference in
era I think too. It's been several years since I've seen one, so I"m going
on fuzzy memory here, but both types of items are not shaped the same.

In our collections, we have several of these. I was always under the
impression that the vernacular term was belly band. However, that they
actually were infant corsets. Some of these actually have laces and
stays, just like the adult version. So, an additional question: Are
these really two different items, belly bands and infant corsets?
