The Museum Computer Network website has been updated to include information
regarding all sessions planned for the upcoming '97 conference, October
15-18, in St. Louis, Missouri. Please direct your browser to:

http://world.std.com/~mcn/MCN97
or
http://www.mcn.edu/MCN97

(MCN website is in transition to our new address -- the second one. Both
addresses contain the updated information). Members of MCN will be
receiving an updated program via snail mail within the next two weeks.

When you are on the MCN97 page, select Conference Sessions from the table.
The next screen will present you with the option of either Thursday,
Friday, or Saturday sessions. The pre-conference workshops scheduled for
Wednesday (Oct. 15) have also been updated, as has the section describing
the special events. MCN97 is going to be a really fine conference with
sessions focussing on a broad range of topics of immediate concern to all
of us.

I draw your attention particularly to the Friday evening event which has
been expanded to include not only a reception at the Art Museum but also a
lecture by Christopher Dede, currently at the National Science Foundation,
speaking on the topic of "How Virtual Environment Technologies Enhance
Motivation and Learning." You won't want to miss it!

As you make your travel arrangements, please remember the open forum on
Wednesday evening, October 15, 6 - 8 p.m., entitled "Data Standards
Initiatives and Projects" moderated by Howard Besser and sponsored by the
Getty Information Institute. The second open forum, also moderated by
Howard, will be held on Saturday morning, October 18, 8 - 10 a.m. focussing
on the topic "Intellectual Property Rights". This open forum included
breakfast and costs $10 per person.

The early registration deadline has passed, but there is still plenty of
time to register for the conference. Just a reminder that the cut-off date
for reserving your hotel room at the Hyatt Regency is September 17 -- call
(800) 233 1234 and identify yourself as an MCN Conference attendee to
qualify for the conference rates.
