Ah! Yup, Diane Keaton did come out and asked to use the Library as a
backdrop for their shoot. For those museums that have had to deal with
movie shoots, this one was painless from the curatorial side; the public
relations people kept asking us not to disturb "Ms. Keaton" while filming
went on (like I don't have any other job than to gawk at the actors,
harrummph). It never crosses the marketing mind that this is our own museum
space and we have to live with any consequences a film crew might impose
... in the end, it was certainly painless, and I haven't seen the movie yet.

***** Be glad that it was painless! We have had both good and bad film crews
at our museum. We are under a lot of pressure from our City to generate
revenue and the film industry is one 'easy' way to do this.

It is difficult for me as Curator - for example one film crew mailed back
our first accessioned artifact -- a clip board from our newspaper office
display -- which one of their staff had appropriated for use during filming.
We do have liaison staff with each film crew, but they cannot watch all of
the film crew and cast all of the time!

We too had Diane Keaton come and film at our museum. I also find myself so
busy that I don't have a lot of time to go and watch although it is
interesting to catch glimpses of the actors. Often I find myself saying - I
know that face, but what is their name?

Burnaby - a major, but almost annonymous film venue in Canada, usually
described on film credits as being "Vancouver, BC" -- which is our next door
neighbour.
