The Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, seeks an individual with strong
academic and curatorial background; an enthusiastic, creative outlook; and an
in-depth knowledge and appreciation of contemporary art.  M.A. required;
Ph.D. preferred.  Minimum of 5 years' museum experience in progressively more
responsible positions.  Candidates should demonstrate significant record in
scholarship, connoisseurship, management, and institutional leadership.  They
must have outstanding written and public communication skills and an aptitude
in developing and maintaining relationships with artists, collectors, donors,
colleagues, and trustees.  At MCA, the Senior Curator supervises exhibitions,
education, publications, graphic design, registration and collections
management, and library.  Position reports to the Director; part of senior
management team with the Associate Director/Finance & Administration and the
Development Director.  Competitive salary, attractive benefits package.

MCA is one museum with two facilities: the flagship building in La Jolla
(recently renovated and expanded in a design by Venturi, Scott Brown &
Associates), and a permanent adjunct exhibition space in downtown San Diego.
