I just recently completed working on/curating an exhibition in Pittsburgh
in which one section was devoted to the Pittsburgh Courier. We struggled
to locate originals of the local edition, but because the paper went
bankrupt, the office in Pittsburgh was seized, and nothing survived. A few
community contacts which I made had a page or two from the paper, but
these were either in fragile condition or not the ones we wanted for the
exhibit. Finally, we located a source for reproducing Courier pages for
the exhibit: The University of Michigan Microfilm Services - Ann Arbor.
They have the master microfilms from which dupes are made and distributed
to libraries, etc. If you know what page you need, they can provide you
with a decent print or neg. (check) of it from the master from which a
suitable reproduction can be made. Perhaps they also have the national
edition.

I hope this is helpful.

Also, if interested, the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania has on
microfilm (not sure if originals exist in their collection) Afro-American
Notes, a
section of the local Pittsburgh press which allocated a page to local
African American news.
