INFORMATION SYSTEMS COORDINATOR

The Chicago Academy of Sciences seeks a positive, energetic, forward
thinking individual with strong interpersonal skills to coordinate
information systems for the institution.  This individual must be mindful
of details and able to handle multiple projects and work with professionals
of varying computer knowledge and ability.

Essential Tasks:
… Coordinate installation, maintenance, and repair of hardware and software
on all workstations and servers including Windows, Macintosh, Unix, and NT.
… Plan, upgrade and maintain all network hardware and software components.
… Ensure that system backups are completed and archived.
… Analyze the institution's systems priorities.  Research, recommend and
implement upgrades and new systems as feasible.
… Work closely with various departments to devise a long-term technology
plan for the institution. Lead the institution in implementing the
technology plan.

Qualifications:
… BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent work
experience.
… Experience with network OS including NT and Unix, and desktop
workstations including Macintosh, Unix, and Win95/98/2000.
… Knowledge of network protocols including: TCP/IP, HTTP, SMB, SMTP,
IPX/SPX, AppleTalk.

Additional Desired Skills:
… Experience with network hardware/software including: Fast Ethernet
routers and switches, IP switching, firewalls, IP security, and DNS
administration.
… Experience with web-design and programming.
… Knowledge of remote networking/WAN protocols and configurations.
… Experience in information-technology related specifically to a museum,
library, and/or institution of higher learning.
… Ability to lift equipment up to 75 pounds.
