Not exactly icebergs per se, but the British painter Edwin Landseer
produced a "sublime" arctic scene, "Man Proposes, God Disposes,"
which features the suggestion of polar bears munching sailors whose
ship has been crushed in the ice.  The "chilling" image was featured
on the cover of the paperback catalogue of the Landseer exhibition
organized a few years back by the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
