Indigo Nights-
I worked in a high end, conservation friendly art and
framing gallery for 3 years.  Often old photos can be
put in a dry mount press for a few minutes between 2
pieces of acid-free mats(without the drymount tissue
of course) and it will straighten them out.  However,
be warned that if the pictures are brittle this would
not be a good idea.  One other thing we tried was
attaching acid-free linen tape to the edges of the
picture and then to a acid free mat.  You also might
want to have this gentleman take the photographs to a
high end framing gallery and have the experts there
look at them.  They may be able to offer more
suggestions.
