The American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA) offers a number of
professional development courses Please visit www.aza.org for up-to-date
course schedules
and information.

*       Aquarium and Zoo Biology: Issues and Concepts for Non-animal Staff:

*       Conservation Education Training Program
*       Creating Successful Exhibits:
*       Crocodilian Biology and Captive Management:
*       Institutional Collection Planning:
*       Institutional Records Keeping:
*       Managing Animal Enrichment and Training Programs:
*       Managing for Success: Career Development and Organizational
*       Development:
*       Principles of Elephant Management:
*       Population Management I:
*       Population Management II:


For those already working in a zoo or aquarium
Each of the following awards provides funding for full tuition, lodging at
the double-room rate, meals, air travel up to $500, round-trip ground
transportation from
Pittsburgh or Columbus to Oglebay Park, and a $200 stipend. Deadline for
application on all awards is October 1, 2001.

1.  Margaret A. Dankworth Management Scholarship:
Managing for Success.

2.  Robert O. Wagner Professional Development Award:            Any AZA
Professional Training course

3.  Diversity Advancement Award:
Any AZA Professional Training course
Applicants for any of the above must be AZA members and employed in a zoo or
aquarium.

4.  International Conservation Training Award:                          Any
AZA Professional Training course
 Employees of any zoo or aquarium outside the United States and Canada may
apply.



*       Aquarium and Zoo Biology, Conservation Education, Creating
Successful Exhibits, Institutional Collection Planning, Managing for
Success: Career Development and Organizational Development, Principles of
Elephant Management, Population Management I & II) will be held February
4-9, 2002 at Oglebay Park, Wheeling, West Virginia.
*       Managing Animal Enrichment and Training Programs will be held
January 9-12, 2002 in Orlando, FL.
*       Crocodilian Biology & Captive Management will be held May 4-9, 2002
in St. Augustine, FL.
*       Institutional Collection Planning workshop will be held at the AZA
Eastern Regional Workshop in Mystic, CT.
