Assuming multiple "votes" mean something, since these have been mentioned:

stuff of the last 60's:
* plastic dinosaurs, plastic animals, plastic army men
* Matchbox cars and Hotwheels, Hotwheel tracks
* DoubleTrouble, Monopoly, Scrabble, Quinto [probably not very popular]
* Lincoln Logs
* slinkies
* marbles

It may be interesting to note (if someone hasn't already, I haven't read
every response) that in spite of the great diversity of available toys, to
this day some of the most popular toys still include sticks, rocks,
cardboard boxes and tubes, and other completely open-ended objects. In
fact, most of the toys of my 2 perschoolers are never used as they were
"intended," but are morphed in the imaginations of the children into all
kinds of other objects. Long skinny objects such as Tinker Toys often serve
simply as sticks.
