You ought to be able to turn up newspaper coverage of the collections flap
at the Connecticut State Museum in 1986, which involved trades from the
collection with private collectors, if (increasingly dubious) memory
serves.  The big metro newspaper there is The Hartford Courant.  I was
also told that ALI-ABA used the incident as a case study for one of its
conferences around that time.
