I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has museum policy or
guidelines for approving destructive sampling for research (in this
case a researcher wants 5 x 5 cm. samples of mammoth and mastodont bone
for aDNA research). I want to assure that the research value is worth
using up the material, and am inclined to ask for documentation of
value of the project, qualification of principals, info on the
methodology (is it experimental or proven), etc. Am I asking for too
much? not enough? Would like comments as well as policy suggestions.
    Thanks.
