Your posting does not mention what part of the country your friend is
from. As a rule, historic preservation funding and support is done at
the local level--state, county, city. Funding sources are few and far
between, but some states have active grants programs. The best place to
start is the National Park Service, the agency which runs the National
Register of Historic Places. The NPS home page is at www.nps.gov/
