Position Title: Head of Registration
Name of Museum: Asian Art Museum
City and State: San Francisco, CA

The Asian Art Museum is seeking an experienced professional registrar with strong managerial and leadership skills to supervise and coordinate the staff and operations of the Registration Department.  The Head of Registration, reporting to the Chief Curator, will plan and direct all collection management activities, serve as exhibition coordinator, and actively participate in the planning and implementation of the Museum’s relocation.  This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding individual to play a critical role in the Museum’s move to a new location and a new century.

The ideal candidate will bring energy, vision and resourcefulness; he/she will possess the ability to anticipate the future needs of the institution and to design effective systems for documenting, tracking, and safely moving and storing the collection. Additionally he/she must have exceptional organizational, problem-solving and communication skills to coordinate the logistics of the Museum’s active program of national and international exhibitions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Art History, Museum Studies, Arts Administration or closely related field AND five (5) years of art/artifacts collections management experience OR
· Master’s Degree in Museum Studies, Arts Administration or closely-related postgraduate program; AND three (3) years of art/artifacts collections management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
