The Westport (Washington) Maritime Museum has two job openings available
immediately. These are Washington Service Corps positions open to U.S.
citizens between the ages of 18 to 25 who are not full-time students. The
positions are of eleven-month duration and will pay a monthly stipend of
$700 each plus health care. Child care allowances are available for those
qualifying. At the end of the eleven-month period of employment, job
holders receive a $4,725 educational award.

The first opening is for a Museum Aide (Preservation Technician) who will
implement recommendations of an Architectural Conservator's Assessment
Report completed for the Maritime Museum's historic main structure, a former
Coast Guard Lifeboat Station operations/administration building. Based on
experience gained, the Preservation Technician will develop a Planned
Preventative Maintenance program for the museum. The position requires
basic building maintenance and carpentry skills.

The second opening is for a Museum Aide (Trail Planner) who will complete
development of a Maritime History Trail linking the Maritime Museum and
Grays Harbor Lighthouse via existing roads and paths. This will include
mapping the trail, developing interpretive stations, and coordinating trail
identification with land-managing agencies. The position requires
organizational, research, and communications skills.

The Preservation Technician and Trail Planner positions are intended to be
mutually supporting and will share some duties.
