A new International Committee for Historical House Museums was set up by
ICOM (the International Council of Museums) at its triennial meeting in
Melbourne in 1998. It is called DEMHIST (from the French form of its
name, "Demeures historiques-musees"), and has a Web page at
<http://www.icom.org/demhist/>. There is not much there yet, but I am
sure that they would welcome interest and support from other historical
house museums. They will be having an annual meeting in Genoa on 2nd-5th
November 2000.

Any individual or institutional member of ICOM can join DEMHIST. If you
don't know about ICOM or how to join it through your national committee,
details are given at <http://www.icom.org/>.

Regards

Leonard Will
Membership Secretary, ICOM UK
