Maria-
The National Park Service has a CD available titled " Exhibit Conservation
Guidelines" that answers this and many other questions. You can find out
more about it at their web site. Go to www. nps.gov and search on Exhibit
Conservation Guidelines.
We use a "medium density fibreboard" called Medex, which looks like a sheet
of plywood with a smooth, covered surface. No off gassing problems and easy
to cut and paint.
