The Royal Ontario Museum used to (and perhaps still does--I've been out
of Ontario for a few years now) run a "singles night" type programme,
bases around a lecture or other presentation at the museum, followed by
a cocktail hour. I expect this was developed more to take advantage of
a niche (providing people with a chance to meet others), but may have
also been intended to reach the demographic you describe.
