But doesn't whether you have a fire exit in your storage area depend
on:  1) local fire regulations; and 2) the amount of work done by individuals
in the storage area?  (While having never been a health and safety officer
for a museum, I do know for offices and businesses, there are rules and regulations which your local fire marshall is well aware of and usually happy to have a chat with you about in a non-confrontational manner).
