I want to be clear about this. I was not "ragging" on anyone. I was asking a legitimate question in the hope of seeing the type of responses engendered. I was serious to find out what people think of such a posting. I can ask the question because my Trustees pay me $20,000 a year for an ostensibly part time position which is, in reality, time and a half. I am also on the staff of Boscobel Restoration, but being on the staff is very different from being the Director. With a one sentence question I've seen over a dozen responses.
I know why I do it. I love the site and the people I work with are devoted to what they do. We have people that have beem committed for 30, 40 and 50 years to this organization. I also happen to know museum Directors that have had positions like this and moved on to greater compensation (the only move possible in this situation) and look longingly at the position they left behind. Unlike many Directors, I generally have the support of my Trustees simply because nobody else wants to do what I do. There may be others reasons for that support but I wouldn't put words in the mouths of these good people.
So my point is, if you are not considering it, perhaps you should. Although many "Youthists" may not be willing to work as hard as they would have to to succeed at such a post. Thank you all for your considered opinions.

We have been ragging on prospective employers who post jobs to this list for
a long time about not posting salaries. Now, here is one with the salary
listed, and we are ragging on them too.

Because they listed the salary, candidates who might be interested in the
job, but will not take part-time work for the salary listed, will not apply.

The job appears to be full-time to me, but obviously, this is all the board
feels it can pay at this time. I sure would like to know if they manage to
fill this position (can someone post a follow-up).

And, really, this is the equivalent of $29,000 to $35,000 PA, if it were
full-time. Not to bad, when you think about it. I sure don't want to
discourage anyone from posting salary ranges when they post jobs--it's a
piece of information that everyone would like to know.

Is it really possible to get a person with the skills to do everything
listed below at that salary?
