This is for the information of current and potential subscribers to Informal
Learning Experiences' Traveling Exhibitions Database and Report. It's now
about a third bigger than ever!! The Summer 2000 edition of Informal Learning
Experiences' Traveling Exhibitions Report will be mailed to hard copy
subscribers in early July and the dramatically updated database already is
available on line.
This issue of the Report includes descriptions of 525 exhibitions which are
currently traveling or preparing to travel. Just last fall it contained only
380 entries. Each entry contains a description of the content and style of
the exhibition, its size in either square or running feet, cost, special
conditions, availability for many, previous venues for many, and contact
information - including email addresses and URLs of producer web sites.
The Report includes exhibitions (both in development and with tours underway)
in the following broad categories: Anthropology (64 exhibitions), Art &
Science (25 exhibitions), Children (59 exhibitions), Environment & Ecology
(14 exhibitions), History (105 exhibitions), Natural History (143
exhibitions) and Science (109 exhibitions).
As an independent organization, ILE is able to be assiduously neutral in
presenting traveling exhibitions. Since we are not bound to the promotional
agendas of specific agencies (e.g., SITES, ASTC, commercial firms, individual
museums), we include exhibitions from all sources, including individuals,
small museums, international agencies, and various places overlooked by those
other listings. Many of these sources are relatively obscure; therefore, we
provide our electronic and print subscribers with a much more complete
sampling of traveling exhibitions than is available from institutional,
business or agency sources.
ILE's Traveling Exhibitions database, updated regularly, is available online
at our web site - http://www.informallearning.com. An annual subscription
includes unlimited searches by topic, originating institution, size and cost.
In addition to the listings as described above, many are hotlinked to
producer web sites. Each of the seven categories may be searched by up to
three key words.
The printed version of the Report is available as an annual subscription (two
issues annually) with surcharges for international addresses. A special
version featuring exhibitions for and about children also is available as an
annual subscription.
We will fax or email subscription rates and forms; the form also is available
on our web site http:www.informallearning.com.
Organizations may list an unlimited number of exhibitions in the Report and
Database at no cost. Please request a data form, or download it from
http://www.informallearning.com. ILE reserves the right to determine the
appropriateness of exhibitions.
