I have purchased carts and other equipment for three institutions in which I
worked. I have found the rubbermaid brand carts to work well for general
artifacts. They come in two sizes; I would recommend getting the 24"x36"
size with two shelves. In addition, a platform truck and panel mover or
sheet rock type or glass cart can come in handy for moving larger things.
They can be covered with carpeting to help cushion artifacts. One thing you
need to check is the size of the caster or wheel. The bigger the better -
for a smoother ride and longer life. Also the weight limit should be
checked for these items.

While these pieces of equipment are available from material handling/supply
companies that ship nationally, you may want to check to see if there is a
local distributor. Items might cost slightly more, but you may be able to
avoid costly shipping charges.
