For many of us I do not think that our comments about the Creation Museum
are a reflection of intolerance. If anything, they are a reflection of what
we believe is the intolerance of so many of those supporting creationism.
I'm not one of those people who believe we should respect everyone's opinion
and just live and let live. I actually think some opinions are dangerous
and of real concern to a modern society. That is not to say that I think
those opinions should be censored. But I do believe that it is my duty to
comment negatively on them. When I read that almost half of America doesn't
believe in evolution I get frightened. And I think that is the reaction of
many. The fear that so many can actually live by and with science, but
conveniently reject it when it doesn't meld with old religious notions is
what makes me and others get so judgmental. We are saying that not every
idea is just okay. Some are so backwards and detrimental to society that
they need to be refuted aggressively.

The problem, as I have stated before, is when people support their opinion
about that which is real - the physical world - with that which is
supernatural and do such under the GUISE OF SCIENCE. If you understand what
the scientific method is, then you understand that you cannot use science to
support supernatural beliefs. D

After reading the very lengthy string of e-mails on this subject, I thought
it would be most appropriate to reply in the beginning, no pun intended.

I will be brief with my comments (perhaps too brief). The closed
mindedness and lack of tolerance of some of our “colleagues” is really an
eye opener.
