The recent Bruce Nauman exhibit at MoMA included numerous "exhibition
versions" of his work, particularly the neon pieces. Other ar=
tists (Sol Lewitt and Lawrence Weiner come to mind) always have work recreated
for exhibition. The art is not always tied to the art=
ifact (or the signified to the signifier...yikes!).
