The following position is open at the Dakota Science Center in Grand
Forks, North Dakota.  Please respond to Vera L.Y. Uyehara, Executive

Web Master/Software Designer

*       FT with benefits

*       Responsible for creation of original world class web site and
educational materials in a challenging, fast paced environment.

*       Responsibilities include creating and managing production schedules,
optimizing site design (look and feel, ease of use and ease of
maintenance).

*       Responsible for recommendation, installation and troubleshooting of
story design and graphics software.

*       Experience managing creative entertainment and educational web
projects is desirable.

*       Requires a thorough knowledge of web development tools (HTML, CGI,
browser technology, streaming audio/video and server technology)

*       Graphics software experience, such as Photoshop, Quark, Illustrator,
QuickTime or Director is desirable.

*       Requires a working knowledge of computer programming.

*       Required skills include HTML/CGI/JAVA programming, Mac experience.

*       Will be working with professionals in the field of educational
technology, particularly with education curriculum writers in areas of
science and history, graphic artists, computer/electronics specialists

*       Familiarity with education &/or science center/museum &/or high
tech/software design industry a plus.

*       Must be able to work cooperatively with educators, graphics and
electronics and computer specialists, and diverse professionals in
libraries, museums, state parks, schools and historical centers across
the state.

*       Requires interfacing effectively with beginners.

*       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and team
orientation.

*       Will be expected to assist in educational workshops for children and
adults.

*       Will be expected to make presentations at professional meetings on the
project activities and development.

*       BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.

*       Must demonstrate proficiency in hands-on web design and construction
skills

*       Must be able to work independently.

*       Some travel within the state of North Dakota, and to national meetings
around the country.

*       Start date: November 15, 1998 or sooner.
